Conveniently located where US-46 and I-80 meet in Netcong, Sabor Latino is a great choice for a fun night out for great food.
Their food is described as “Comida guatemalteca centroamericana y más:” Guatemalan and Central American Food – and more. And that’s exactly right; you can get Guatemalan tacos on fresh, soft handmade tortillas, or crunchy Mexican ones. You can also get an incredible cheesesteak.

May I suggest the garnachas? They’re Guatemalan meat tarts, a super crunchy fried tortilla cup filled with savory ground beef and topped with pickled cabbage.
One of these days I will try the ceviche.
On to the main course!
This time I tried something new – the Churrasquito Chapin. This is a real Guatemalan dish. It’s 3 corn tortillas with mashed black beans, charbroiled steak, a dollop of delicious tomato sauce, avocado and a whole scallion. Accompanied by their delicious macaroni salad, this is quite a belly full. To refresh the pallet, munch on those delicious pickled jalapenos, onions and carrots.
Perhaps my all time favorite dish are the birria tacos. Over the last several years, I’ve tried all the tacos they make: chicken, beef, tongue, carnitas, pastor… all delicious. Then they introduced Tacos Mixte – steak and shrimp. They became my definite favorite, until they added Birria Tacos to the menu. These are truly special.
The meat inside the taco is braised. The liquid its braised in is served in that little cup topped with cilantro and unions. This is so rich and flavorful – you dunk this meaty, cheesy taco into that consommé and get as much of it in your mouth as you can at once.
