I am a huge DC comics nerd: same with Marvel but not as much. And I am also someone who likes to shop at nearby locations and small businesses.
One place I love in particular for my exploration of comic books is Pyramid Comics. Based in Sparta, NJ, the building it is in is a mix of a flower store, and a comic book store.
The history of this building is incredible: the construction for this historic building started in 1880, and was finished in 1890! It’s beautiful architecture on the outside and inside is a lovely testimate to the history it came from, and the advancements technology has since. They dub the building “Century house” how beautiful.
The company started in 1995, and is now reaching its THIRTY YEAR anniversary. On their page for their website, they say
“As we look forward to the next 30 years, we can’t wait to see what the future holds. New heroes, new stories, and new friendships await, and we are excited to continue this journey with you. Here’s to many more years of fun, fandom, and fantastic adventures!
Thank you for being a part of the Pyramid Comics family. Here’s to the next chapter!” (Pyramid comics 2025).
This comic book store is ran by an amazing guy named Peter, and he is incredible. I go about once or twice a week, he remembers me and always helps in the best way possible. If I need help with getting a book, he will go out of his way to help, my partner needed to get comic books pressed so we can get them graded, and he was enthusiastic and willing to help. We talk about art, we talk about comics, and we talk about the weather. He remembers that I draw, and always asks to see whatever I’m working on.
Hes brilliant in the way he knows how to run the business, knows whats going on in the comic book world, stays up to date, and is so passionate about his work.
If you enjoy comic books, this is the place to go! I love this place and will always go to it whenever I need or want a comic book.
