Background
Red Dead Redemption II released in 2018 by Rockstar Games was the long awaited sequel or in this case prequel to the game Red Dead Redemption which was released in 2010. The prequel compared to it’s predecessor has a impressive amount of detail and improvements that went into the games massive open-world, as well as it’s intriguing and enthralling story.
The Story
The story of RDR II(Red Dead Redemption II) takes place in a fictionalized version of the American mid-west in the year 1899. In the story you play as the character of Arthur Morgan, an outlaw who is a member of the Van Der Linde gang that is on the run from the law in a Wild West that is being tamed. Over the course of the story you and the Van Der Linde gang try to find a way to escape and start a new life while being chased by government agencies, rival gangs, and other adversaries that cross your path.
The World and it’s Details
The World of RDR II is a massive, gorgeous, and carefully crafted landscape with a variety of biomes, towns, cities, and interesting/fun things to do. These things include from side quests, to random NPC interactions and encounters, treasure maps, hunting, and much more. The world of RDR II also has crazy amount of detail packed within it. Water movement and interactions in this game are extremely realistic with even the characters clothes and body getting noticeable damp when soaked. The animals and NPC’s have realistic reactions to the player with NPC’s remembering either good or bad acts, animals and NPC’s having their own life cycle outside of the players view. Animals interacting naturally with each other. The player can also get dirty if they don’t interact with water or take a bath for an extended period of time in game. Fire and explosions having realistic physics. That’s no where close to the end of the list for the amount details in this game.
My Personal Opinion
In my opinion I think RDR II is absolutely phenomenal game. I have played through this game about 4 times and have played it for countless hours. Till this day I am still discovering new interactions and things about this game and I have had it since it released back in 2018. While I didn’t reveal to much about the story so that way one can experience on their own it is definitely one of my favorite stories and the character of Arthur and his story is truly beautiful.
