Heartwarming Stories:

Back in 2021 I was a worker at Tamerlaine Animal Sanctuary, everyday was focused on maintaining the best life for each animal on the farm. Through my experiences there I learned so much about the terrible lives these animals face in the meat industry and on private farms. I have added some amazing rescue stories I got to witness, aid in, and care for that will always stick with me:

Petunia:

(The duck with the broken shoulder)- Petunia was rescued from a harsh enviroment, when rescued she was found to have a broken wing. She spent her time with us indoors in our hospital unit. Tamerlaine paid for and partnered with Cornell University to get a splint put in her wing right around her shoulder blade. Everyday we would warm compress, bandage and medicate petunia. Finally the splint came off and petunia was given a second chance at a normal life, where she could swim and play with the other ducks on the preserve.

Kaporo Chickens:

Every year in the fall in NY there is a kaporo festival, a rather inhumane festival that Tamerliane has jumped into action for, for many years now, rescuing coops and coops worth of dangered chicks. At these festivals, the community holds chickens by their wings and circle them over their heads. This leaves many amputated, featherless, stressed and/or dead. Tameraline has made it their mission to grab the crates of chickens before and after this cruel act. These babies come to live on Tamerlaine farm, where they are fed to exact measures, wounds are dressed, injuries are attended too and their forever coops are nice and warm. These babies are only alive because of the amazing founders persitence and care at Tamerlaine Sanctuary and Preserve.

Mama Pig:

At my time on Tamerlaine Gabby and Pete, the founders, rescued and shipped in from California an expected Mama Pig who was living in terrible conditions. When she arrived she was much farther along than enticapated and was immediatly set up in a pen in the main office where she had all eyes on her and warm blankets to nest in. Mama Pig gave birth not too long after her arrival, each baby was named after a spice and set up to live a wonderful life on Tamerlaine Animal Sanctuary.

Oats and Cashew:

Oats and Cashew were two baby boy cows seperated from their mother at birth. They were living in what could only be described as a cellar- no light, no mom, and emaciated, eating only enough to allow them to survive until slaughter. The farm was raided and Tamerlaine jumped to action to get these boys home. They were so fragile and such sweet animals. All of the workers medicated and fed Oats and Cashew through bottles. They are now huge, and spend their time loving life grazing on Tameralines pastures with all of their adopted brothers.

Aurora, Hansel and Gretel:

Another rescue mission I loved being a part of was that of two baby goats and their mama. This wonderful little family came from similar conditions as the rest. They were welcomed home with so much love- getting prime real estate upon arrival in Tamerlaines main barn, where they began to stick out the Winter with their little coats and full bellies.
