The photo above is a picture of the Facebook Group that has been incredibly helpful, and supportive to my family while treating our 12 year old dachshund, Cody’s, Protein Losing Enteropathy (PLE). The amazing people in this group have provided us with significantly better guidance than the professionals we have been seeing for over a year. They taught us that PLE can be controlled primarily by diet and they provided the supporting details from Cornell University Hospital for Animals, and several collaborating pet owners.

diet alone caused clinical remission.

When we first posted our story, the response was incredible. Perfect strangers from around the country took time out of their busy lives to respond and help us. Real people who have pets with PLE who know and understand the challenges of this disease reached out to help. They gave us amazing suggestions, advice, support and most of all hope. I never thought to turn to social media page for help with a veterinarian concern. But I am so thankful that I did. I highly recommend that you consider looking for a Facebook group for help with any problem you may be having.

Very Helpful Suggestions from the Facebook PLE Page:
- Great diet options for dogs with PLE:
- Tilapia, sweet potatoes, hemp seed oil and fish oil
- Pork, stovetop cooked pearled barley, hemp seed oil and fish oil
- Lean ground turkey, instant quick oats, hemp seed oil and fish oil
- All the above meals are recommended to include a nutritional supplement such as Annamaet Enhance or BalanceIT® Carnivore Blend
- Egg whites are also recommended to help improve PLE
