Eye-Catching Sound
Founded by Max Gunawan in 2012, Lumio started in a small workshop in San Francisco. Becoming an entrepreneur for him was truly an accident. Lumio was created simply out of Gunawan’s desire to create an object that was beautiful, cozy, stunning, and functional.
This project grew into an award-winning bestseller, sold in more than 200 retailers across 30-plus countries.

This portable, USB-charged lamp and bluetooth speaker is truly a work of art. It is simply ethereal, out of this world. Its design was inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, which is the practice of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with precious metal. The Lumio Teno resembles a stone bowl with a golden crack running through it. You have to pull it apart in order to turn it on. Once you do, light and sound just pour out. Made of cast resin and sand, Teno has zero buttons. Just tap it to adjust light and sound intensity When the battery gets low, there’s no beeping. You’ll be notified with the sound of raindrops.
Lumio wanted to move away from the typical ‘techy’ aesthetic of bluetooth speakers. They instead strived to create a product with an entirely different look and feel, meaning you don’t need to hide it in the corner.” ~ designboom
The designers at Lumio are working towards including and utilizing each of the five human senses when creating their products. It is very exciting to see what they have in store and how this unique, yet stunning brand will unfold.
